NYC Art Show-----"Windows on Tibetans"1973 Sept.2010 PaulaBarr Chelsea

John Smart traveling in Nepal during the Winter 1969,became friends with several Tibetan refugees living in Kathmandu. This work was inspired by the strenght and gentle beauty of their way of life. They invited him to attend 1970 Kalachakra teachings and initations given by the Dalai Lama in Dharamsala,India. He was deeply moved by collective energy of the Tibetans and
their Spiritual Leader.

Returning to Dharamsala in the Spring 1973 he took independent photographic studies about Tibetans exile living throughout Northern India and Dolpo District of Nepal.

Johns viewpoint was cultivated under the influence of Photography Art Institue former curator
Hugh Logan Edwards and teachers Harold Allen and Enrico Natali. For those of you that are not
familiar with John Smart,he is a master Printmaker and you may view his artwork soon.
